Rest Day!!!

CFkids!!! parents please come by and get
your kids registered.  The trainers will be
around Saturday if you have any questions!

Remember Sunday is a rest do so we will be
closed!! We will still be running an athletes
meeting @ 1600 for those who are planning
to compete in next years regionals.

So there is a pic out there that is pretty viral right now..
an Ode to the woman (Nike womens ad) who is
thick.... Her but looks like a C... blah blah blah ...
Here is what I say ... What can she do? Does it
matter if you are short or tall?  big or small?  Have
a butt like a C, a D or an X,Y,Z... What I am
getting @ is strength is beautiful no matter what
package it comes in, and the ability to "do work" far
exceeds the aesthetic value in real life.  Yes she is
a gorgeous young lady, but why doesn't the ad talk
about how strong is beautiful, how much she can
deadlift, how she crushes a volleyball, how fast she
runs the 100??  I would put any of my girls
up against her in an all of show of performance based
fitness, because my guess is .. she's just a model and
her training program probably still sucks.  When being
good stops being as important as looking good go ahead
and buy yourself some spray-on tan and a bikini and
head for the cable crossover machine!
End rant!!!

Jessie's face is classic "I just felt something *pop*"...

In response to "the rant", I just have to say, no matter what the model did to get her body shape, be it pilates, junk food, zumba, crossfit or UFC fighting - the message is what I think should matter most. Big butts, big arms, broad shoulders, jeans that are tight in the ass and too big in the waist are something all fit ladies, including, I'd be willing to bet, most CrossFitters, have to deal with. The overlying message that "strong chicks are hot too" shouldnt be missed.

On another note, I'm sure not many of us missed the tanned, short short, pink hair extensioned hotties we've seen explicitly on the CF Games coverage - whats the big deal?

Ashrey I don't disagree but I am @ a loss as to where"the ad" in any way eludes to the fact that strong chicks are hot...which by the way I am in absolute agreement with that fact. You are defending something you used to make fun of ..only the gender has changed.. if it were a yoked out guy who couldn't get his arms down to scratch his ass you would say its all for show not for go... That is all I am pointing out here . Why not emphasize the performance side of this beautiful creature instead of "i like to shop" does that make her unique because she has a big frame?? she likes to shop ??WTF... And yes the games was heavily focused on the T&A (which by the way came in all shapes and sizes .. and wasn't just there for the show, they had the go)... out of my control... but there was a whole lot of attention given to the top performers regardless of what they looked like. Maybe we are saying the same thing here, not sure .. we are eye to eye in the all women (people in general) struggle with what some would consider our imperfections... I definitely don't agree that its the message intent of the ad..... just my opinion though

Word- I think we are in agreement here, I just am pleased that the cultural idea of a "fit woman" as leaned out runner - not a martini glass shaped crossfitter, is being challenged. Fit or not - it's still pretty nifty. At the end of the day it's just a business selling a product. And don't worry- I will ALWAYS make fun of spray tanned bedazzled speedos and the like :-)

love the rant Jamie, i hated that add when i saw it. (probably because i have no ass... haha)
