LEAN UP CHALLENGE!!!

LEAN UP CHALLENGE DETAILS:

-8 weeks long ( 2 months!!  Anyone can do this)

-1 hour Lecture on Paleo/ Zone eating 9 January
2010 @ 1200(could be longer if any of you have
been to one of our lectures before) then 4 days
before the Challenge begins

- Eating is Paleo/ Zone (we encourage a paleo menu
but if zone suits you we will not limit your
participation because of it).  The challenge will
officially begin on 13 January 2010.

-you do not have to attend the Lecture but you will have
to pay your entry fee by close of business on 12 January.

- Cost is $30.00 (cash) to be put into a kitty (we will take
$5 from each entry  that will go towards the games
competitor fund)

- The kitty is divided in 2 for a FEMALE winner and a MALE
winner

-In order to win, Food Logs must be maintained and
submitted each week to your group leader/coach

- 3 'Before' pictures taken: front view, side view and back
view. Men are in shorts; Women are in shorts and sports
bra/bikini top

- 3 'After' pictures taken within 2 days of the finish of the
Challenge, (in the same clothes preferably, if the will stay
on)no exceptions.

-Trainers will pick the the top man and top woman in their
group whose body composition changed the most (based
on pictures only, this is a lean up challenge not a weight
loss challenge which means that you could lose a minimal
amount of weight but have a huge change in body
composition.)  You are free to provide us with your own
pictures but for fair comparison having the pictures
taken with the same camera in the same place with the
same lighting would be optimal.

-Then all the participants vote on the top male and
 female to determine the Winners

-The 2 winners each win half of the  contest kitty plus a
free month of membership

-The pictures taken are PRIVATE. The pictures of the top
men and top women from each group will be viewed on
paper at the gym to determine the winners

FOOD LOGS:
Each and every participant will maintain an accurate
food logs reflecting both the good and bad.  It is
imperative that you are honest and open with your food
log.  It will be extremely hard for your group leader to help
you dial in what's best for you if you don't provide all the
data.  This means anything you consume that has a
caloric value must be documented to the best of your
ability, this includes what you drink, even those
pesky little sugar free rockstars need to be accounted for
because sometimes people have an insulin response
triggered by their brain that is an affect of a sweet taste
not necessarily because it has a glycemic value.  The
bottom line is that the more data you provide us the more
we can help you.

Why aren't we running this like we ran the last challenge?
We want everyone new and old to the gym to have an
opportunity to participate in this challenge.  If we were to
use the same criteria as last time a new person would have
an unfair advantage over someone who had been improving
their fitness and over the last year.  therefore we had to keep
the judging criteria as simple as possible.  You all know how
I feel about the obsession with aesthetics vs performance
but lets face it we all want to be happy with what we see in
the mirror.

Thanks to CrossFit Seattle for giving us a great guideline
for how to run this challenge!!
