LEAN UP CHALLENGE!!!

LEAN UP CHALLENGE DETAILS:

-8 weeks long ( 2 months!!  Anyone can do this)

-1 hour Lecture on Paleo/ Zone eating 9 January
2010 @ 1200(could be longer if any of you have
been to one of our lectures before) then 4 days
before the Challenge begins

- Eating is Paleo/ Zone (we encourage a paleo menu
but if zone suits you we will not limit your
participation because of it).  The challenge will
officially begin on 13 January 2010.

-you do not have to attend the Lecture but you will have
to pay your entry fee by close of business on 12 January.

- Cost is $30.00 (cash) to be put into a kitty (we will take
$5 from each entry  that will go towards the games
competitor fund)

- The kitty is divided in 2 for a FEMALE winner and a MALE
winner

-In order to win, Food Logs must be maintained and
submitted each week to your group leader/coach

- 3 'Before' pictures taken: front view, side view and back
view. Men are in shorts; Women are in shorts and sports
bra/bikini top

- 3 'After' pictures taken within 2 days of the finish of the
Challenge, (in the same clothes preferably, if the will stay
on)no exceptions.

-Trainers will pick the the top man and top woman in their
group whose body composition changed the most (based
on pictures only, this is a lean up challenge not a weight
loss challenge which means that you could lose a minimal
amount of weight but have a huge change in body
composition.)  You are free to provide us with your own
pictures but for fair comparison having the pictures
taken with the same camera in the same place with the
same lighting would be optimal.

-Then all the participants vote on the top male and
 female to determine the Winners

-The 2 winners each win half of the  contest kitty plus a
free month of membership

-The pictures taken are PRIVATE. The pictures of the top
men and top women from each group will be viewed on
paper at the gym to determine the winners

FOOD LOGS:
Each and every participant will maintain an accurate
food logs reflecting both the good and bad.  It is
imperative that you are honest and open with your food
log.  It will be extremely hard for your group leader to help
you dial in what's best for you if you don't provide all the
data.  This means anything you consume that has a
caloric value must be documented to the best of your
ability, this includes what you drink, even those
pesky little sugar free rockstars need to be accounted for
because sometimes people have an insulin response
triggered by their brain that is an affect of a sweet taste
not necessarily because it has a glycemic value.  The
bottom line is that the more data you provide us the more
we can help you.


Why aren't we running this like we ran the last challenge?
 We want everyone new and old to the gym to have an
opportunity to participate in this challenge.  If we were to
use the same criteria as last time a new person would have
an unfair advantage over someone who had been improving
their fitness and over the last year.  therefore we had to keep
the judging criteria as simple as possible.  You all know how
I feel about the obsession with aesthetics vs performance
but lets face it we all want to be happy with what we see in
the mirror.

(literally, his parents farm) make sure to wish
him well if you see him before his departure

Paleo Friendly Dinner
"Call it whatever you want" Chicken Wrap
Recipe for two or more
Add 1 can of coconut milk, 1/4 cup Cilantro,
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper, 1/2
packet of Green Curry to a deep skillet and bring
to a boil. Add 3 quartered chicken breasts and let
cook, as the chicken cooks the coconut oil and
milk will separate and the milk will start to burn off
whats left of the milk will crust onto the chicken.
While the chicken is cooking dice two tomatoes,
two avocado's and if you want to a 1/2 onion. Wrap
the quartered chicken in a piece of red leaf lettuce,
garnish with the tomato/avocado/onions and enjoy!!

We will pick up where we left off with our
Oly Lift Workshop, on Sunday we will hit
the Clean and maybe even the Jerk! We will
start @ 1600 and probably go until close so
plan accordingly.... Again if you cannot squat
below parallel or keep your elbows up in a front
squat, you should not be focusing on advanced
movements like Olympic lifting, your attention is
better spent working the fundamental movements.
This doesn't mean you are not welcome to attend
it just means you should probably stop putting the
cart before the horse!!!

THERE WILL BE NO CLASSES AFTER 1600 ON
SUNDAY!!!

0900 and close @ 1900 (bootcamp athletes
speak with your Lead Coach in regards to your
holiday plan). We will be Closed 24 and 25 Dec
and the New Year from 29 Dec-3 Jan 2010 and
re-open the 4th with some new programs
available to broaden our horizons of fitness.

efficient way possible whether it be squat clean
and Jerk, squat clean and press, power clean and
Jerk, etc.....

As we approach the New Year I would like
all of our athletes (thats everyone that uses
this gym) to be thinking about not only a
 goal for January but a goal for 2010,
one that should be attainable with the help of
our staff in the first 6 months of the year.  The
old goals board will be no more and things
like "stop BSing and get this money" will not be
allowed on the new board.... its been a year
and I still have no idea what that means and
since its still up there I am guessing he doesn't
either!!!  This is change 1 of many to come in
the new year.  If you have trouble with
change it's going to be a really long 2010
for you here @ CFA....

Yes, I agree today's WOD doesn't make sense...
I recommend you ignore weighting pull up
considering even some of our strongest athletes
max out regular weighted pull ups @ around 120lbs
